Youngest SRFC rugby players are mascots at Dutch team match
February 2023
As a young Rugby player you dream of walking onto the pitch in the national stadium as an International for your country. Making a dream come true starts with taking the first step: walking with your heroes as a mascot.
The players of the Dutch Men's Rugby Team played against Georgia in Amsterdam. This international match was preceded by a ceremony with flags and a national anthem. In the players' tunnel, the giant rugby Internationals of the Netherlands and Georgia were awaited by the youngest rugby players of Stichtsche RFC. The Turven, Benjamins and Minis were ready in their SRFC outfits to walk onto the field hand in hand with their Georgian role models. The blue and red SRFC shirts contrasted nicely with the still white shirts of the Georgian Men. After the national anthem, which was sung along with at the top of their lungs by the 23 Georgian players, the SRFC wolves let go of their hands and ran to their parents in the stands to watch the match. From the field straight to the stands, that's how accessible rugby is.
The players came by after the match won by Georgia to put their signatures on the shirts. This way these young rugby players have a nice souvenir and they are richer for a great experience. Exactly what SRFC aims for: making nice memories. And on this day dreams already became a little bit reality
